Raptors sign power forward Jarrod Uthoff

Former Iowa star Jarrod Uthoff, right, will be fighting for a roster spot with the Toronto Raptors at training camp.

The Toronto Raptors have signed forward Jarrod Uthoff. Though the team, per policy, did not disclose details of the terms, last week it was reported that the signing would be a two-year partially guaranteed deal.

The deal will bring Uthoff into the Raptors training camp in the fall with a shot at making the club. Uthoff, 23, went undrafted after an impressive collegiate career at Iowa where he averaged 18.9 points per game in his senior year and was one of 35 players named to the mid-season watchlist for the NCAA’s player of the year honour.

At 6-foot-10, Uthoff is considered a stretch four, and shot 38.2 per cent from beyond the arc last season. He appeared in four games for the Sacramento Kings at the Las Vegas Summer League. He joins a Raptors squad with three power forwards under contract in Patrick Patterson, first-round pick Pascal Siakam, and recently-signed Jared Sullinger.
